Our objective is to make a contribution to the theory of the categorization of reality and to state the role of the linguistic element in that phenomenon. We will start from one division of the studies of categorization: a subjectivist perspective that considers the interference of the knowing subject on what he knows, and an objectivist perspective which does not pay attention to this circumstance by necessity. Among the arguments used by us to explain the subjectivist trend, we will examine certain aspects of Husserl's Phenomenology, of Piaget's or Glasersfeld's Constructivism and of Linguistic Cognitivism. Within the scope of linguistics, we have found a hypothesis which identifies the knowledge of reality not within the subject, but as an aspect of the former: its language. We will analyze Trujillo's thesis in detail. In our third chapter we will attend to the objectivistic perspectives among which we will be dealing with linguistics, i.e. semantics. Finally we will propose an interpretation that articulates both general perspectives and we will make a subjectivist proposal that places the linguistic element as a theoretical basis around which the categorization of reality by adult humans is given. SpanishNuestro objetivo es contribuir a la teoría de la categorización de lo real y establecer el papel del elemento lingüístico en dicho fenómeno. Partimos de una división de los estudios de la categorización: una perspectiva subjetivista, que tiene en cuenta la interferencia del sujeto cognoscente en aquello que este conoce, y otra objetivista, que desatiende esta circunstancia por necesidad. Entre los argumentos con que explicamos la tendencia subjetivista, examinamos ciertos aspectos de la fenomenología de Husserl, del constructivismo de Piaget o Glasersfeld y del cognitivismo lingüístico. En el ámbito de la lingüística, encontramos una hipótesis que cifra el conocimiento de la realidad, no en el sujeto, sino en un aspecto suyo: la lengua. Analizamos las tesis de Trujillo con cierto detenimiento. A partir del epígrafe 3, nos centramos en las perspectivas objetivistas, entre las cuales se encuentra la lingüística y, por tanto la semántica. Por último, proponemos una interpretación que articula ambas perspectivas generales y hacemos una propuesta subjetivista que coloca al elemento lingüístico como eje teórico en torno al que se da la categorización de la realidad por parte de los seres humanos adultos.
